HERE'S WHAT I'VE LEARNED ABOUT WHY A ROOM THAT WORKS MATTER MORE THAN YOU THINK...

We treat "this room doesn't feel right" like it's just a decorating problem. It's NOT just that.

The room you live in every day shapes how you feel, calm or chaotic, at home or on edge. Whether you notice it or not.

A room that doesn't work isn't just an eyesore. It can quietly cost you your sense of self in your own home.

I grew up sharing a room with my older sister and never really had a space of my own. The summer before my senior year, she got married and while I was away on a trip, my parents redid our room. I came home to a space that was finally just mine, and it was the first time I remember feeling like my own person. That experience helped to shape my identity.

That's what a room that works actually does. It's not about the furniture. It's about walking into a space and finally feeling like yourself in it.

AND THAT RIGHT THERE is why I built Rooms That Work the way I did. Not just to help you make a space look better, but to help you create a home that actually feels like you.

You Can't See What's Wrong With Your Room

(And That's Why Nothing's Working)

X

You Can't See What's Wrong

You know your room feels off, but when you try to figure out what's actually broken, your brain goes blank.

X

You're Guessing, Not Fixing

You've rearranged furniture five different ways and scrolled Pinterest for hours but nothing works because you can't diagnose the real problem.

Everyone Else Seems To Get It

Other people instinctively make their homes look pulled together while you're stuck wondering what secret you're missing.

What You Get!

  • Bite-Size, Easy-to-Implement Lessons: Short, focused videos that build on each other - one idea at a time, one action at a time. You won't feel behind. You won't feel overwhelmed. You'll just keep moving forward.

  • Visual Walkthrough of Real Rooms: Watch me read actual spaces - furniture, walls, corners - and narrate exactly what I see and why. You're not just learning the method, you're watching it work.

  • The Logic Lens: My proprietary framework for seeing any room the way I do - what's off, why it's off, and what to do about it. This is the thing that makes the whole room click into place.

  • A Clear Plan to Fix Your Space: You won't finish this course with a list of things to think about. You'll finish with a specific plan - what to move, what to add, what to fix first - for your actual room.

  • The RTW Implementation Toolkit: Cheat sheets, worksheets, and quick reference tools so you're never stuck mid-lesson wondering what to do next.

Hi! I'm Amanda Lane

Meet Your Instructor
My design journey started with hand-me down furniture and garage sale finds because I didn't have a budget for new. I had to learn how to make what I had work together.
That's when I realized that rooms that work start with logic and function. If a space doesn't feel right or function well, it will never look right.
The #1 thing I've learned through my design journey is you don't need expensive furniture, designer pieces, or a complete room makeover to fix what's broken in your space.
You don't need to shop more, spend more, or follow the latest trends.
Once you understand how design actually works, the universal principles that make ANY room feel right, you can transform your home with the furniture you already have.
AND THAT RIGHT THERE is what inspired me to create Rooms That Work, a course that teaches you to diagnose your space and fix it yourself.
Here's my promise: by the end of this course, you'll know one simple trick that lets you see exactly what's broken in any room, and you'll know exactly how to fix it, starting with what you already own. And, if you do need to buy something new you'll know exactly what you need and why, so you never waste money on pieces that don't work.
I'm excited to show you how!! GRAB THE COURSE and I will SEE YOU INSIDE!!

Who Is This Course For?

  • You want to learn how to see exactly what's wrong with your room and fix it with confidence—instead of endlessly guessing and feeling frustrated.

  • You value learning a skill you can use forever over getting a one-time room makeover that you can't maintain or replicate.

  • You're a homeowner who knows something feels off in your living room but can't pinpoint what's actually broken.

  • You want to understand WHY rooms work instead of copying Pinterest rooms that don't translate to your space.

  • You're willing to work with what you already own instead of spending hundreds on new furniture that might not solve the real problem.

  • You're ready to do the work yourself—move furniture, rearrange, execute—instead of hiring someone to do it for you.

What Categories Do We Focus On?

  • Homeowners who need to fix furniture placement problems (blocked flow, wrong scale, disconnected pieces) in their living room

  • Stay-at-home moms looking to learn perception training and diagnostic skills so they can see what's wrong instead of guessing

  • Anyone struggling with visual weight and balance who can't figure out why one side of their room feels cramped while the other feels empty

  • People who need to understand room structure and architectural constraints before moving furniture (doorways, windows, walkways, clearances)

  • Homeowners ready to learn how to complete structural finishing with walls, corners, and vertical elements using what they already own

  • Renters wanting to master shopping their home first before buying new pieces that might not solve the actual problem

  • And so much more!

Who Is This Course NOT For?

  • Someone who needs color or pattern guidance. This course is about structure — not style. Color theory and pattern selection aren't covered here.

  • You want me to tell you exactly where to put your sofa without teaching you how to see—this course trains perception, not "move this here" instructions.

  • You're looking for style-specific advice (farmhouse, modern, boho)—this teaches universal structure that works with ANY style.

  • You want solutions for every room in your house right now—this focuses on your living room as proof that you can see (then you can apply it anywhere).

  • You're not willing to move your own furniture or rearrange things yourself—this requires hands-on execution, not just watching videos.

  • You want to buy all new furniture to solve the problem—this teaches you to work with what you have first.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you give color options or discuss how to work with patterns?

No — and that's intentional. Rooms That Work is focused entirely on structure: flow, visual weight, and balance. Color and pattern are style decisions. Structure is what makes a room feel right before any of that. Get the structure right first, and the style decisions get a lot easier.

What skill level is this program for?

Complete beginners. You don't need any design background, creative ability, or previous knowledge. If you can take a photo with your phone and move furniture, you can do this course. I teach you how to SEE structure from scratch—that's the whole point.

How long do I have access to the program & when does it start?

You get lifetime access starting immediately after enrollment. The course is designed as a one-week transformation, but you can go at your own pace. Watch the videos in one sitting or spread them over a month—it's yours forever.

Can't I learn all of this on Youtube?

YouTube has furniture placement tips, but it won't teach you WHY those tips work or how to diagnose YOUR specific room. You'll copy arrangements that don't translate to your space because you can't see structure yet. This course trains your perception—the skill underneath every arrangement—so you can fix any room, not just copy one solution.

Do I need to buy new furniture before starting?

No! The entire method is built around using what you already own. You'll learn to diagnose your room first, then fix it by rearranging existing furniture and moving pieces you already have from other rooms. Only shop if your diagnosis shows you're truly missing something structural.

What if I have multiple rooms that need help—will this work for all of them?

The course focuses on your living room as proof of concept. Once you break through design blindness and learn to see structure, you can apply the same diagnostic method to any room in your home. Living room first, then everywhere else.

I rent and can't paint or make permanent changes. Will this still work?

Yes! This course focuses on furniture placement and movable structural elements (art you can hang with command strips, plants, mirrors, things you can take with you). You don't need to paint walls or make permanent changes to transform your space.

I've already tried rearranging my furniture five different ways and nothing worked. Why would this be different?

Because it's likely you were guessing. You couldn't see what was actually broken, so you were trying random arrangements hoping something would click. This course teaches you to diagnose FIRST (identify your specific symptom), then fix that exact problem. You'll know what to move and why—not trial and error.

My room has weird constraints (awkward doorways, too many windows, odd shape). Will this method still work?

Yes—actually, room constraints are PART of the method. You'll learn to read your room's structure (doorways, windows, walkways) in Phase 3 and use those constraints to guide your furniture placement. The method works WITH your room's reality, not against it.

What if my partner disagrees with my diagnosis or doesn't want to move furniture?

Show them the before-and-after using my signature diagnostic method—it removes opinion and shows the structural problem visually. When they can SEE what's broken (not just hear you say "something feels off"), they're much more likely to agree. Plus, you'll have step-by-step solutions, not vague ideas.

Should I take Rooms That Work before investing in other design courses?

If you can't see structure yet, other design courses won't help—you'll learn tactics without understanding why they work. Start here. Break through design blindness first. Once you can see, everything else (color, styling, other rooms) builds on that foundation.
